Using general search engines or specialist tools, for example unbiased.co.uk will allow you to search for local financial advisers based on your postcode. The system will list all financial advisers operating in your local area that meet the criteria you’ve entered.

Personal recommendations

Word of mouth recommendations can provide a good indication of the service provided by a financial adviser. Why not ask friends and family members if they’ve used a financial adviser and whether they’d recommend their service?
